The orchestras invited to perform at RadiRo 2018 represent prestigious broadcasters in Europe: they will feature attractive programmes, renowned soloists and conductors, contributing to the growing reputation of the festival!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u2013 LILIANA STAICU, Director Romanian Radio Orchestras and Choirs<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Just a month left until the start of the only festival in the world dedicated to radio orchestras: RadiRo \u2013 The International Festival of Radio Orchestras, an event produced and organized by Radio Romania! The 4th edition of the festival, organized every two years, will take place from November 18th to November 25th and will bring in front of the Romanian audience some of the most prestigious European ensembles.<\/p>\n A premiere of this edition of the festival is the new jazz section, which will complete the symphony programme. The 8 classical music concerts will be hosted at the Romanian Radio Hall, while the 4 jazz concerts will take place at the Auditorium Hall \u2013 MNAR (National Museum of Art of Romania). RadiRo 2018 will give the opportunity to music lovers to listen live in Bucharest to the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra (UK), who will perform two concerts at the Romanian Radio Hall (on the 22nd and 23rd of November), under the baton of conductors Moritz Gnann and Ben Gernon, featuring soloists Andrei Ioni\u021b\u0103 (cello) and Krist\u00f3f Bar\u00e1ti (violin).<\/p>\n The MDR Leipzig Radio Symphony Orchestra (Germany), the oldest European radio orchestra, will perform two concerts at the RadiRo festival, on November 19th<\/sup> and 20th<\/sup>, 2018, under the baton of conductor Robert Trevino, an occasion for the audience to meet two outstanding soloists: violinist Simone Lamsma and pianist Mihai Ritivoiu. Other two important European ensembles will perform during the Festival: RT\u00c9 National Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano, together with the \u201chost\u201d orchestra of the event, the Romanian Radio National Orchestra.<\/p>\n The event will feature an impressively varied repertoire: Maurice Ravel <\/strong>– suite Daphnis and Chlo\u00e9<\/em>, Claude Debussy<\/strong> \u2013 Pr\u00e9lude \u00e0 l\u2019apr\u00e8s-midi d\u2019un faune<\/em>, Gustav Mahler<\/strong> \u2013 Symphony No. 5<\/em>, P. I. Tchaikovsky <\/strong>– Romeo and Juliet<\/em> \u2013 Overture Fantasy, Nikolai Rimski-Korsakov<\/strong> \u2013 Scheherazade<\/em>, symphony suite, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart <\/strong>\u2013 The Marriage of Figaro<\/em> Overture, together with the two rhapsodies authored by George Enescu and a few highly valuable works, but performed more rarely, like the symphony poem A Hero\u2019s Life<\/em> by Richard Strauss<\/strong>, \u00a0Violin Concerto no. 2<\/em> by B\u00e9la Bart\u00f3k <\/strong>and the Symphony no. 2<\/em> by S. Rachmaninoff.<\/strong><\/p>\n The jazz concerts series will be performed by big bands belonging to public radio broadcasters from Denmark, Croatia and Romania. The top guest musician of the jazz concerts series will be Aura Urziceanu, who will return to Romania especially for this event, to perform with the Romanian Radio Big Band.<\/p>\n All concerts performed during the Festival will be broadcast live by Radio Romania, recorded and broadcast later by the Romanian Television.
